Weird, huh ?
Last Saturday my left eye was a bit closed-up. It didn't hurt or anything, so I put it down to being tired (I got up at 5am to take Elliot to work).
Sunday morning I woke up and my eye was a bit glued shut. Still no pain or itching, and no daytime 'glue'. My eye was constantly half shut and beginning to look a bit red.
Yesterday was the same, though my eye has swelled a bit, and except for the absence of any bruises, it looks as though I've been punched in the eye. I also noticed a lump in my face right next to the tragus part of my ear, and the whites of my eye had also gotten redder. My eye was also a bit watery. Needless to say, I booked an appointment with the doctor for today (Tuesday).
Off to the doctor today. He had a look and put some dye in my eye. He had no idea what the problem was but was very concerned and booked me an emergency appointment with an eye specialist. So...off there I trot.
$136 later I'm told that it's a strain of conjunctivitis that is basically like a cold in my eye. I'm not supposed to prepare food* or be around children (ummm...I am a wife and mother - HELLO ?!). I can't work for at least a week and it will probably take about 10 days to be back to normal. He also took three eye cultures for testing and prescribed two lots of drops, and I have to go back on Friday for a follow-up appointment.
So thanks to mum for doing some last-minute babysitting for me :)
* Elliot said I can have a rest from cooking for a few days because he can't afford to catch my eye cold - woo hoo !

In other news... Elliot goes onto shifts as of Monday. I've had to quit my job, but I will let them know the days I can work so if they need me they can call. I'll work Friday and Saturday next week providing my eye is better.
I've done a bit of scrapping, and when I've finished the little project I've been working on I'll post pics. As soon as that's done I can get started on my new shaped chipboard album so that Kathy can get it on sale.

Thankfully your eye problem wasn't as serious as we thought it could have been but hey, take advantage of not having to cook.... only wish the doctor said no housework..
