Update on Toby's hand

I took Toby to see the surgeon on Friday. His hand is still very swollen, but Toby said it doesn't hurt unless you really pull and twist his fingers. The surgeon looked at his hand and the xrays, and then asked another surgeon and a hand therapist what they thought. They all umm'd and ahh'd. He asked when Toby last ate, and I think if he hadn't had breakfast, he would have been admitted there and then.

The surgeon decided to put a special splint on him and we have to take him back on Wednesday for more xrays, and they will decide then. He said it's 50/50 as to whether they'll do anything. He said if they can avoid the surgery, they will, because the break is so close to the joint and there is a lot of cartilage in there that is still growing.
