ENGAGED !!!!!!!!
We were sitting in the front room last night (4 April), about to watch a dvd, and Elliot said to me "I wrote you a poem today, but you can't have it coz you've been naughty". I said "I have not ! Show me, show me, show me". So he reaches down beside the sofa and says "It's in this book". I thought he was referring to the notepad we keep in the kitchen but he brought out a little book titled "The Gift Of Happiness". So there I am turning to mush coz my sweet boy has bought me a special little book and written me a poem inside. I turn to the inside cover, but there is nothing written there, so I begin to flick through the book. He says "It's in the LOVE section" and turns to the chapter. There, glued to the page is this poem:
No one has ever meant as much to me as you
Good times and bad
Without you, my life is incomplete
I am missing something when you are not near
And it is you that I miss when we are apart.
There comes a time in every man's life
When he must take a chance and choose a wife
That time has now come to be -
So will you take that chance and marry me ?
** insert stomach lurch here **
I look at him in disbelief and he turns the page....there, nestled in a hole he has drilled in the rest of the book, is my beautiful diamond ring.
** insert a flood of tears here **
I was so busy crying that I don't remember him taking the ring out of the book, but he did, and got down on one knee and put it on my finger. He had champagne hidden in a cooler bag in the car, so we got to celebrate properly.
