Retail therapy, Kaiser style !
Mum, Leanne and I travelled the loooong journey to Geelong yesterday to go to the Kaiser discount outlet. Definately worth a visit if you're in the area, or if you can carpool like we did, a nice day out.
Cheryl (aka Chez) and the other lady who was there were SO lovely and welcoming. If you go, make sure you print out the coupon sheet to receive a freebie and be sure to tell Chez I sent you ! I was the first person who had used the coupons apparently and Chez was so beside herself she was literally screaming ! HAHA I think we instantly became friends, vowing to email eachother and stuff, she's such a treasure :)
I bought a few a handbag albums and arrow albums - they were $1 each ! The handbag is a second because the holes are at the bottom, but I think they are better with the holes at the bottom anyway ! I don't know why the arrow albums were so cheap ? All the other albums and OTP things were the same price as at the shops as they weren't 2nds.
I got a set of circle stamps for myself...they were $5 because the word "believe" is spelt incorrectly on one of the small circles (the fault of a man I'm told). I looked and looked for the error but couldn't see it till it was pointed out. It would be easily covered by a flower or something, or else just don't use that particular stamp.
The flowers were just loose in a box and were $1 for 20. Mum bought loads and we went halves. She spent $10 on flowers but we have hundred and hundreds each. I sat and separated all mine as many were stuck together in clumps and I've got a huge tin full ! The colours are cream, mint, sky blue, sepia and light pink.
They had discounted paint and papers, as well as all of the latest products (at regular rrp). I wanted to get some big bottles of paint for Kade but didn't have enough cash on me. Inkpads were $1 each for the little ones, not sure how much the big ones were. There were stamps and reinkers, MDF shapes, frames and other OTP items.
They had boxes and boxes of 1/2 sheets of paper. I got couple of each of the 1/2 sheets of skull boi and military to use on cards. I should really have grabbed a handful of each them (they were 40c per half sheet or $20 for 100) but was limited by how much money I had on me (I had incorrectly assumed they'd have EFTPOS). Mum and I will probably go back another time.
They had boxes of 24 small bottles of glue for $5. Mum and I went halves in a box. They had loose blank cards and envies, 100 for $7. I got 100 white envies for my cards.
The coolest thing is that for every $10 you spend on products, over $9 goes to help disadvantaged children !

Not much happening here...
It's been a bit quiet here this week. Kade and I are both suffering with colds, but I think Kade is on the improve, so that's good !
I took Toby to a funeral on Wednesday...his best friend's mum. Very, very sad. Toby has been such a strong support for his friend. Toby is coping well himself, and while he has always been quite affectionate he is even more so at the moment. After the service we followed the hearse to the burial and he held my hand the whole way. He put his head on my shoulder as we walked and said "I love you mum". I am so proud of both he and his friends - there were four of them there to support T, and they all went back to T's house afterwards. The other parents chipped in and I went about bought some Coke and fish & chips and the boys spent the evening playing XBox and just being teenage boys together.
On a happier note, Kade has a new favourite TV show - "In The Night Garden". It's a BBC production from the creators of the Teletubbies. He knows all the characters; Igglepiggle, Makka Pakka, Upsy Daisy, the Tombliboos (Unn, Ooo and Eee), the Pontipines, the Hoo Haas, the Tittifers, the Ninky Nonk and the Pinky Ponk. His favourite is either Igglepiggle or Makka Pakka. We bought him the DVD the other day and am expecting it in the post either today or tomorrow...he will be thrilled !!
This morning we are going to meet Sarah and Harry for coffee and a play. We're gutted that Starbucks has gone, but at least the kids play area is still there :( Sarah is another Fiskars Ambassador and we're going to swap and share some Fiskars product so we have some more variety to play with.

Repair for missing .bin file in AVG Antivirus FREE version 8.0.136
It seems that there is a problem with AVG Antivirus FREE version 8.0.136 at the moment. Upon attempting to update your database it will tell you that there is a .bin file missing. After unsucessfully uninstalling and reinstalling and also doing a sytem restore, I have found the solution and repaired it myself. I thought I'd share the info here to save you all from tearing your hair out too.
1) go to http://www.grisoft.com/ww.download-update
2) make a directory on your desktop called AVG
3) download AVI: 270.6.4 to the directory you made called AVG
4) download IAVI: / 1616 to the directory you made called AVG
5) launch AVG
6) select tools -> update from directory
7) select the directory called AVG where you put the downloads
That's it. Should be fixed.

A visit to 'The Scrapbook Lady'
Mum, Kade and I went to 'The Scrapbook Lady' in Pakenham today to see Lyn because she was demonstrating there. We had a lovely time catching up and meeting a few new faces, and everyone seemed to be having loads of fun playing with the new border punches. Here are a couple of pics from Lyn's camera.

Not happy !
Well...our microwave decided to die yesterday and I'm not happy ~ it's SIXTEEN MONTHS OLD and has been used no more than twice-a-week on average !!! What the heck is going on when a brand new appliance turns up its toes after just 16 months ?? My previous microwave lasted me over nine years, and it was at least a few months old when I got it second-hand. Guess who WON'T BE BUYING PANASONIC appliances again ?

Food stuff...
In other foodie news...here's a COOKING TIP for you. I read this in one of those forwarded emails that someone sent me and I figured it was worth a try...
Stop celery from wilting by wrapping it in aluminium foil and storing it in the fridge !! Seriously...I bought mine on the 22nd and it's now the 29th and it's as fresh and crunchy as the day I bought it (I'm leaving some in there to see just how long it will last LOL). I have to say, I'm majorly impressed !! I usually buy just a few stalks for the recipe I'm cooking because I know that by the next night, it'll be all limp and useless. Now I can buy a half or a whole and know it will keep :D

a catchup
Well, we've made it through a busy week !
On Thursday mum, Judy, Kade and I went to the Fiskars Garage Sale. Kade was SO well behaved ALL day. He sat in his stroller for two hours and did not complain once. Then we went to the Craft & Quilt Fair for a look around. Again, he did not complain once. He asked to get out of his stroller, so I let him out with strict instructions that he was not to touch anything and that must hold the stroller at all times. He did exactly as he was told and only let go of the stroller twice - a quick "UH-HUM" from me had him holding on again. Mum sat and did a quick workshop and Kade wanted to sit next to her. He sat there with his palms on the table almost the whole time, and when he did look at the things on the stand in front of him he was very careful and didn't try to take them off the rack. SO proud of my boy :D
On Friday I worked for 4 hours at the Craft & Quilt Fair - I had the BEST time ! The girls at the BHG stand (Ann Marie and Toni) were SUCH fun.
On Saturday I did some housework and made some cupcakes to take on Sunday. I also worked at night.
On Sunday (yesterday) I worked 9am to 6:30pm at the Fair, teaching my advanced class and assisting Lyn with her beginner class. It was a long day but I really enjoyed myself. Today I am having a recovery day LOL.

Here I am, teaching a FULL class - my second ever 'official' class ! Check out my snazzy Fiskars polo shirt and apron :) The young girls on the left did SO well and barely needed any instruction ! The lady in pink was the one we 'picked' on all lesson LOL. It was all in good humour and she played right along. This was a great bunch of ladies to teach, we all had lots of fun !
Toby's toe seems to be healing well after having the nail surgically removed in an effort to stop the ingrown toenail. He hasn't had any pain other than the day it was done, so that's good. Poor kid having inherited that complaint from my side of the family.
Kade keeps amazing us... Yesterday Elliot was using the computer and Kade came up to him an pointed to and named ALL the letters on the bottom row of the keyboard !!! We knew he knew some random letters, but we were completely flabbergasted that he could reel off the whole row. It seems his little VTECH learning computer IS actually teaching him !
Kade and I also made Shrek cupcakes last week. He's really becoming quite the little chef :D

All the fun of the show !
On Thursday Mum, Judy and I went to the FISKARS garage sale - bargains, bargains, bargains I can tell you !!
After that we went to the Craft & Quilt Fair for a bit of a look-see. While I was there Lyn asked me if I could work on Friday for a few hours, of course, I jumped at the chance. So yesterday I spent the morning with Ann Marie and Toni in the Better Homes & Gardens stand signing people up for our workshops. I had a fantastic time ! The girls were SO lovely, it was like we'd been mates for ever..laughing and joking and just 'getting' eachother's silliness.
Wendy took some pics of the Fiskars girl, our workshop area and the Scrapbook City stall first thing...
Today I have some housework to catch up on and I plan to make some cupcakes to take with me tomorrow. Elliot is going to the movies soon and then this afternoon he will occupy Kade so I can scrap a bit before work tonight. Tomorrow will be a big day for me, leaving at 7:30 to head into the Fair and working till at least 5pm.

A BIG weekend coming
Firstly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY FISKARS AUSTRALIA !!
Yesterday was Fiskars 10th birthday in Australia, and next month, the Fiskars ANZ blog has been running for 1 year. Wow. Two huge milestones! To make it a fun birthday the ANZ leads have decided to throw a big party. There are already a couple of challenges up on the ANZ blog (click here to see them), but come Saturday and Sunday we're going to be having a heap more challenges, games, inspiration, and fun!!!!
On Sunday we've also lined up the 5 USA Lead Ambassadors to come and visit and have a 'live' chat on the blog. Here are the times around the world if you'd like to join us:

Yesterday was Fiskars 10th birthday in Australia, and next month, the Fiskars ANZ blog has been running for 1 year. Wow. Two huge milestones! To make it a fun birthday the ANZ leads have decided to throw a big party. There are already a couple of challenges up on the ANZ blog (click here to see them), but come Saturday and Sunday we're going to be having a heap more challenges, games, inspiration, and fun!!!!
On Sunday we've also lined up the 5 USA Lead Ambassadors to come and visit and have a 'live' chat on the blog. Here are the times around the world if you'd like to join us:
12 pm Melbourne (Sunday lunchtime)
2pm Auckland (Sunday afternoon)
7 pm Los Angeles (Saturday night)
10pm New York (Saturday night)
3am London (Sunday morning)
The way it will work is we'll be online at the above times and will 'chat' with them in a post on the blog. Just keep refreshing your computer to see more, new questions and answers. Can't wait!

"Not another Christmas in July" Cyber Crop
Yes, that’s right Julie’s Scrapping Jewels is having its Christmas in July CC this weekend. Kicking off Friday night, 25th July at 7pm EST. Work to be completed by Monday 28th at midnight.
Dig out those boxes of un-scrapped Chrissy photos and get ready to use them.

Shrink plastic & 'Ink By Steph'
Inspired by the post HERE [and my own comment on that post giving a link to the instructions for making rings] and the FUNKY new Ink By Steph stamps (available at Spotlight), I decided to make some cool teen jewellery for Toby's girlfriend Shannen.
With some shrink plastic, a cheap necklace (bought in packs of 8 in the craft section of a local $2 shop), a jump ring, and stamps from the 'Skin & Bones' set I've made a necklace with matching ring. I used Stazon ink, and the pen line around the edge was drawn with a "The Scrapbook Pen" (available from Spotlight).
And then...because I just couldn't help myself, I decided to see if I could make a ring using the new 'Threading Water' punch... THIS one I'm keeping for myself !!
For anyone wanting to try to make a ring themselves, my original piece of shrink plastic was 12cm long and about 1" wide (allow more for the offcuts when using the Threading Water punch). To shape the ring I found that a lipstick case was a good fit for the ring I usually wear on that finger.
